Description

The Layout section is used to set the parameters of the layout of the information to trace for each DDH.

graphic

The header is used to set the Offset width and the Lag distance.

The two tabs are used to set the different parameters of the Standard information and Graphs.

Header

The Offset distance is the thickness of each offset measured perpendicularly to the trace of the hole. The traces of the different layers are drawn on these offsets.

The Lag Distance is the maximum length of the segments composing the trace of the hole. A short lag will produce smoother curves but will create heavier files and will require more time to generate because of the large number of segments, it will also be more difficult to manipulate it with GeoticCAD.

Standard information

graphic

You must check the levels to trace and set the necessary parameters for each of these.

The Trace style determines the position and the appearance of the trace. To edit it, click it, and the edition window will be displayed.

graphic

You must choose the Side of the trace of the level (compared to the hole trace starting from the collar) either Left (graphic) or Right (graphic) (click to change), the Offset (from 0 to 10) and if the Trace will be Filled (graphic) or Empty (graphic) (click to change). You can also choose to add Delimitors, i.e. draw extension ticks at the extremities of the trace. These delimitors will exceed the trace of one half Offset width.

You must set the Trace width, the Text offset compared to the trace of the level, and the Font size of the text. The text can be written either in Black (graphic) or According to the color code of the level (graphic) (click to change). You must select a color Code or Profile for each level (see Code and Profile), it can be edited by right-clicking of it. You can choose to Include (graphic) or not (graphic) the Photos. These will be represented by a photo block (a camera), in GeoticCAD, you will then be able to see the photo associated to that block. You can choose to Include (graphic) or not (graphic) the Information tooltips.

For the Main lithogy, Sub lithology, and Vein levels, you can set the Position and the Model of the Core angles. For the Structure level, you can only set the Position because the model is defined by the Model code.

For the Assay, Geochemistry, and Zone levels, you can also Export the XYZ coordinates in a text file (which will have the same name than the section file).

You can also include Tick marks following some properties and a Spacing and Export the XYZ coordinates in a text file (which will have the same name than the section file).

Graphs

graphic

You can include Curves graphs for the Geophysics level, you must select the Fields to trace, the Side (compared to the hole trace starting from the collar) either Left (graphic) or Right (graphic) (click to change), the Value which will be equivalent to a Distance (perpendicular to the trace of the hole), and the Color to use. You can Ignore the 0, i.e. interpret the 0 as a missing value. By default, the scale is decimal, but it can also be Logarithmic, you will then have to specify the number of Decimals of the minimum, for example if the lowest value is of 0.005, enter 3.

You can also include Bars graphs for the Assay and Geochemistry levels, you must select the Side (compared to the hole trace starting from the collar) either Left (graphic) or Right (graphic) (click to change), the Value which will be equivalent to a Distance (perpendicular to the trace of the hole), and the assay profile to use. You can give an upper Limit (capping) meaning that all the values greater than this limit will be interpreted as having the value of the limit. You can choose to Include (graphic) or not (graphic) the Information tooltips. By default, the scale is decimal, but it can also be Logarithmic, you will then have to specify the number of Decimals of the minimum, for example if the lowest value is of 0.005, enter 3.

Remarks

The maximum length of a segment is the smallest value between the Lag distance and the distance between the down hole survey tests associated with this segment.

The Trace width, Text offsets, Font sizes, as well as the Offset width, Spacing, and the Scale Distances are given in drawing units (Plot system) or in paper units, according to wether the values are respectively Relative or Absolute. See Properties.

A Font size of 0 means that the text will not be written.

You can Save the data (save this page in the task profile) or Reset the data (reload the page from the last save of the task profile) by right-clicking on the top of the window. In addition to these actions you can also Save the task profile (save all the pages in the task profile) or Reset the task profile (reload all the pages from the last save of the task profile) by right-clicking anywhere on the window.

This window can be moved where ever you please, and can also be anchored to one or the other of the four sides of the main window.

Tip: It is often clearer to place the lithologic information of level 1 on the offset 0 or 1 with the text 4 or 5 offset farther.
The lithologic information of level 2 will be placed on the second offset (on the same side of the hole) with the text closer, that is only 1 offset farther; a slightly smaller font will help the reading.
On the other side of the hole, you can place assays or any other information.
